TRUST THE PROCESS

God Is Here: Reimagining the Divine Kindle Edition

Rabbi Toba Spitzer, who I will paraphrase occasionally, is wise and insightful sharing many spiritual practices to help us grow in our own transformation.

She discusses Biblical metaphors for God, including cloud, and fire. I just finished reading her chapter, "Becoming." She quotes Octavia Butler: "As wind/As water/As fire/As life/ God is both creative and destructive/ Demanding and Yielding/Sculptor and clay. God is Infinite Potential: God is Change."

For instance, Moses asks, "Who am I, that I should go to Pharaoh and free the Israelites from Egypt? God replies, "I will be with you." But Moses is not convinced: "When I come to the Israelites and say to them, the God of your ancestors has sent me," and they say to me, "What is Its name?"--what should I say to them?"

God said to Moses, 'Ehyeh-Asher-Ehyeh...literally translated as "I will be that I will be," or "I am Becoming That I am Becoming"

Since God is a Process of Becoming, even when we are inadequate, as Moses felt he was, God is with us in our growth into our unique potentiality.
